* Length: 6:28 * Description: This Betty Boop cartoon was banned in 1934 for drug use. * Chapter 2: Media impact * Question: In which part of the video involved to drug use? * Answer: The "Laughing Gas" (4:07).
This is so funny because I used to love the Betty Boop character when I was a kid. I used to buy a lot of the products that came out with her on them. My grandma also said that it was a popular cartoon when it first came out and that no children would have even recognized that the laughing gas was a drug.
I watched this video clips once at the age of 8, what a coincidence! To be frank, at that time these kind of video is the only source I exposed to the meaning and act of drug use. I have no idea that is a bad habit but very curious about that because I found that is just so cool acting like that, cant image that I am one of the person who affected by the mass media.
